Shooting Tips (Babies & Kids)

New parents are always keen to record every precious moment of their child’s growth over the years to retain wonderful memories. The following are useful tips from CMOX to new parents when photographing or recording your child.

Set a theme
Creating a theme is a great way to best capture all the special moments of your child’s growth. Once the content and aim of your photography has been all planned out, you can more effectively capture all those remarkable images. Theme planning also helps to avoid taking boring footage and is effective for future creative editing of images.

Make good use of light sources
Rely more on natural light sources during daytime. For indoor shooting stay close to a window and use natural light as your main source of illumination. Shooting with a diffracted light source will help you achieve softer and more natural visual effects. To avoid blurred or unclear images due to backlighting effects, never shoot with a light source coming from behind your child.

Capturing innocent smiles
To capture a child’s innocent smiles, become familiar with the optimal zoom functions of the camera lens. For full length video shooting or close-ups, adjust the zoom to ‘full range’ and ‘close range’ respectively, but never continually zoom in and out.
